AquaKeeper

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 4, 2026
Last updated: September 4, 2026

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to AquaKeeper (the “App”), an aquarium management application published by the AquaKeeper team (“we”, “us”, “our”). For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, the AquaKeeper team is the data controller of the personal information described in this policy.

This policy does not apply to third-party services integrated into the App (such as Google Firebase or Google AdMob). Those services process data under their own privacy policies, which are linked in Section 4.

This policy is governed by the laws applicable to the publisher's place of establishment, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections in your country or state of residence.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide voluntarily

When you submit feedback through Settings → Feedback, we receive only the fields described below. Providing contact details is entirely optional.

FieldPurpose
Feedback typeCategorising your report (problem or suggestion)
Message contentUnderstanding and fixing the issue
Contact (optional)Replying to you only if you ask us to
Platform & app versionReproducing the issue on the right build
TimestampOrdering and following up on reports
Please note Never include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information in a feedback message.

2.2 Information collected automatically

To keep the App stable and to show ads, the following third-party services collect certain data automatically when you use AquaKeeper:

ServiceWhat it collects
Firebase Analytics In-app events and feature usage, app version, device model, OS version, region (derived from IP)
Firebase Crashlytics Crash stack traces, device model, OS version, app version, free storage / memory state at the time of the crash
Firebase Remote Config App instance identifier and app version, used to deliver remote feature switches
Google AdMob Advertising identifier (AAID on Android / IDFA on iOS), ad requests, ad interactions, and your consent choices
App store update check On iOS we query Apple's public lookup API; on Android we use Google Play's in-app update API. Both only receive the App's bundle identifier.

2.3 Device permissions

The App requests the following device permissions, only when you actively use the corresponding feature. It never accesses the camera or your photos in the background.

You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings; the related features will simply stop working.

2.4 Data that stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us or to any server:

Exporting your data creates a ZIP file on your device that you share through your device's own share sheet. We do not receive a copy.

3. How we use your information

We use the information described above only for the following purposes. Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we rely on the legal bases indicated:

PurposeLegal basis (GDPR)
Answer and act on the feedback you send usConsent, and legitimate interests in supporting our users
Diagnose crashes and improve app stabilityLegitimate interests
Understand which features are used to prioritise improvementsLegitimate interests
Display advertisements and honour your advertising consent choicesConsent (where required by law)
Notify you when a new version of the App is availableLegitimate interests

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your aquarium data for advertising or profiling. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Third-party services

We share data only with the providers below, and only for the purposes stated. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.

5. Advertising and your choices

AquaKeeper uses Google AdMob to display ads. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before any personalised ad is loaded. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time.

On iOS, AquaKeeper does not request tracking permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. As a result, Google serves non-personalised ads on iOS.

You can also control advertising at the operating-system level:

If you are a California resident, please also see Section 9 for your opt-out rights regarding the “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

6. Data retention and deletion

7. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we handle, including restricting access to feedback data to the small team responsible for support. Because your core data never leaves your device, it also benefits from your device's own security (screen lock, disk encryption). No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

In the unlikely event of a personal data breach that affects you, we will notify affected users and, where required, the relevant data protection authorities, in accordance with applicable law.

8. Children's privacy

AquaKeeper is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age set by the laws of your jurisdiction, which may be up to 16 in some EU member states). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through a feedback message, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your rights

9.1 EEA and UK (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. However, the advertising identifier collected by Google AdMob may constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. You can opt out at any time using the controls in Section 5 (system advertising settings or My Ad Center). We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. We do not collect “sensitive personal information” as defined by the CCPA.

9.3 Other US states and other regions

Residents of other US states with comprehensive privacy laws (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and Utah) have similar rights, including access, deletion, correction and portability. Where local law grants you comparable rights, we will honour them through the same channels.

9.4 How to exercise your rights

Because AquaKeeper has no accounts, we hold no profile that identifies you. Most requests can be resolved directly on your device by exporting or clearing your data. For anything else, email us at support@aquakeeper.app; we aim to respond within the period required by applicable law (and in any event within 7 days where feasible).

10. International data transfers

Feedback you submit is stored on a server located in Singapore. Analytics, crash and advertising data are processed by Google, which may transfer and store data in the United States and other countries. Where required, these transfers rely on adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

11. Do Not Track

“Do Not Track” (DNT) is a browser setting; AquaKeeper is a native app, not a website, so DNT signals do not apply. Advertising choices are controlled through the settings described in Section 5.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where the change is material, notify you inside the App. Continuing to use AquaKeeper after a change means you accept the updated policy.

13. Contact us

If you have any question about this policy or about how your data is handled, please email us:

Email: support@aquakeeper.app

We aim to respond within 7 days.
